Supporting online & digital sexuality educators

Updated: Aug 18, 2022

Unfortunately, because of censorship and shadow banning, sexuality educators and sex therapists get lost on social media. The rules prohibit us from even paying to promote our posts. (See some of Facebook/Instagram's policies below)

This is honestly a super frustrating aspect of being a digital sex educator, because I'm trying to build my business and get my messages out there, but there are so many roadblocks put in place by online platforms. This also means that it's more difficult to monetize our content.

So how can you support online & digital sexuality educators? Here are some ways to promote our content:

  • Commenting on our posts does wonders to make our content more visible (more so than liking)

  • Share our content on your stories and tag us

  • Tag yourself and your friends

  • Save our posts

MOST IMPORTANTLY, CONTROL WHAT YOU SEE ON YOUR FEED.

On Instagram, do the following:

  1. Go to your profile page

  2. Hit the 3 lines in the top right corner

  3. Click "Account"

  4. Click "Sensitive Content Control"

  5. Select "Allow" instead of "Limit (Default)" or "Limit Even More"
